You can make your own salt-free seasonings for a fraction of the cost and they taste far better. Not blending the salt in allows you to control how much and when to add it. For example, I often &#8220;dry brine&#8221; chicken pieces by generously salting them and placing them in the fridge uncovered for a few hours. You then sprinkle on the salt-free spices just before cooking. It&#8217;s is a technique used for southern BBQ and it&#8217;s fantastic. Here are a few blends that will serve you well. Oh, and jerk normally has some sugar in it. This one doesn&#8217;t. Adding something sweet to whatever dish you make with it is up to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time: 5 minutes each<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Taco Seasoning<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>40g chilli powder<br \/>\n10g ground cumin<br \/>\n10g paprika<br \/>\n6g black pepper<br \/>\n6g onion powder<br \/>\n6g garlic powder<br \/>\n4g ground oregano<br \/>\n2g cayenne or habanero pepper (optional)<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Jerk Spice<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>20g onion powder<br \/>\n20g garlic powder<br \/>\n10g ginger powder<br \/>\n10g ground thyme<br \/>\n10g allspice<br \/>\n10g paprika<br \/>\n5g white pepper<br \/>\n5g ground cinnamon<br \/>\n4g ground nutmeg<br \/>\n3g cayenne or habanero powder<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cajun Seasoning<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>40g chilli powder<br \/>\n20g paprika<br \/>\n15g garlic powder<br \/>\n10g cayenne pepper<br \/>\n8g white pepper<br \/>\n8g black pepper<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Combine ingredients in a small mason jar and shake to combine.
