I used a bacon I make with a pancetta-style cure, rather than normal bacon, though actual pancetta would make it even better!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time: 30 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Serves: 6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>6 slices bacon \u2013 cut into matchsticks<br \/>\n4 sage leaves \u2013 chiffonade<br \/>\n2 cloves garlic &#8211; finely chopped or grated<br \/>\n2 stalks celery \u2013 diced<br \/>\n4 roma tomatoes \u2013 diced<br \/>\n4 cups chicken stock<br \/>\n2 19-ounce cans white kidney beans \u2013 rinsed and drained<br \/>\n1 pinch fresh ground black pepper<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon salt \u2013 or to taste<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Place a suitable pot on medium-low heat.<\/p>\n<p>Add the bacon, stirring occasionally until lightly browned.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in the sage and garlic, stirring occasionally for five minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Add the celery and tomatoes, occasionally for two minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in the stock and turn heat to high, until a simmer is reached then, add the beans and simmer for two minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Mash with a potato masher to slightly thicken the soup.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in the pepper and salt to taste.<\/p>\n<p>Serve immediately or store and reheat before serving.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Bean &amp; Bacon Soup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kevskitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Bean-Bacon-Soup.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Get the PDF and nutrition info<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s yet another dish that shows how just a few ingredients can act in synergy to develop way more flavour than you thought possible.
